Welcome to Scotland’s Harmony Junction: the 10th annual gathering of our Barbershop Choruses. The single note the Piper is calling, is once again bringing us back to Pitlochry, to greet old friends, make new acquaintances, learn a little more and just enjoy singing Barbershop. I am delighted to advise that the majority of the Faculty from last year (and some for many years before that) are returning again to give of their time and talent in teaching and entertaining us. They are true friends indeed and I know you all appreciate just what they do to assist us all in furthering our enjoyment of Barbershop singing. Once again we are fortunate in hosting the current British Gold Medal Quartet, this year’s winners being the well known “Pitch Invasion”. If you remember they were the Silver Medallists last year and should have been at H.J., but ill health prevented them, so now we have the pleasure of them singing to us as Gold Medallists.
“The Works” Quartet, now that John Palmer is returning, will also entertain during the weekend. Between the two quartets there will be a musical feast to enthral your senses
MUSIC for 2007. The traditional format is retained with two new songs to be learnt for the mass chorus. The first will be “You Raise Me Up” (as sung by West Life). As it is the 10th Anniversary of H.J., there will be a one off experimental bit of fun with the second song “Baby its Cold Outside”.
This will be rehearsed separately as two mass choruses – Gents and Ladies – but will finally come together on the Sunday morning to sing it as one combined mass chorus. The music scores and teach CDs are being obtained and prepared at the moment and will be sent to you in the near future.
The reason for this event is the coming together of all the Choruses to enjoy each other’s company and to sing in harmony. Thank you all for coming – it is your weekend and I am sure you will make it a success. TO ONE AND ALL - ENJOY YOURSELVES! Donald Marshall – Chairman |
